Inquiry theme:  Kaitiaki, caring for our kura/school

Tēna a koe whānau,

Well the snow has finally arrived – and the snowmen were quickly assembled during morning tea.  Please view our facebook page.

Thank you’s

Thank you to Brent, Sam and Wattie for putting up the bright green sandpit shade cover – it certainly has a presence with the uplifting colour the tamariki choose.

Thank you also for the recent feedback regarding school stream.  It appears some of the messages have not been getting to their destinations. Please make sure you refresh your page in the first instance if you have any concerns.  However, to help with this issue, we do have the option of emailing information. Please let me know via email if this is your preference. Principal@lakerotoiti.school.nz.

Sadly Dottie has handed in her resignation as teacher assistance at the kura/school.  She will be missed by all of us, as she has fitted in and supported way beyond what was asked.  So thank you very much Dottie, you are a taonga/treasure and good luck with future choices.

Dominique will be stepping into this position until we are able to officially advertise and full the role. Thank you Dominique for helping.

Wool or foil blankets

During a recent discussion on emergency procedures,  we noted that in extreme weather situations, tamariki may be cold during our evacuation processes.  If you have any spare wool or foil blankets that are in good condition, and you no longer require them, we will happily take them off your hands.

Dates for the calendar.

TOD: Teacher Only Day

We will be having a Teacher Only Day on the 16th August.  The kura/school will be closed for instruction on this day.

Open Class

You are invited to attend an ‘open classroom’ day.  The date set for this is 14th August . The purpose is to open our doors and say come on in, and see what we are doing.  This will be a time where you can join us and see learning in action.

Learning Conferences:  Week 8, date to be confirmed.  These will run from 2.30.

Winter Tournament:

The seniors have the opportunity of being part of the Motueka Winter tournament again this year.  The year 5 and 6’s will participate on Thursday 22nd August, while the Year 7 and 8 events are held on Friday 23rd August.  Permission slips will be going home with your tamaiti (child).

Enjoy your ski day tomorrow.  Alison and Dan will be kaiako/teachers in charge of this outing, as I have appointments at the kura/school.

Ngā mihi  Sue, Alison and Dan
